After the Haiti earthquake of 2010, Peace Initiatives gave a big embrace of solidarity to the Haitian community. In a country where impoverished living conditions were already a barrier, the earthquake exacerbated the situation even more. This reality moved Peace Initiatives to join the group of organizations and entities around the world that tirelessly worked to counteract the impact of the natural disaster. Inspired by the resilience capacity of the Haitian people, their history and culture, the team of volunteers ended up founding a home away from home in Haiti.
Our projects in Haiti:
“Kai Lapè” (or Peace House) is our missionary house. Since its inauguration, it has received over 1,500 volunteers from all over the world. The house functions as a meeting space for workshops, trainings and community gatherings.

Peace Initiatives is a program made up of volunteers driven by love, compassion and a strong belief in the capacity of each community to find and create solutions to their problems. To help in the problem-solving process, we work with each community in the development of responsible and cost-effective public health strategies based on their needs.
